The vast majority of people warm up the food that was left during the dinner. Some of them use the same food for three times. What is good to know is that not all foods should be consumed after warming them. There are foods that are not affected by this process, but there are foods that can actually lead to many problems in our body if they are warmed.
Unfortunately, there is only a small number of people who are aware of this fact. There are many foods that don’t have the same nutritional value after they are warmed. In this article, we will present a list of foods that shouldn’t be warmed and consumed.
You might be surprised to hear that mushrooms can bring many negative effects to our body once they are reheated. So, eat mushrooms right after they are prepared. In case some of them are left and you want to eat them the following day – eat them cold. Reheated mushrooms can lead to heart and digestive problems.
Chicken meat is one of the tastiest meats, but this is true only if you eat the chicken right after it is prepared. If you warm up the chicken the next day, it can harm your health. After one day, the protein structure changes leading to digestive issues. Remember that the chicken comes with larger quantities of protein compared to red meat. It is advised to consume chicken cold. However, if you still want to warm it, at least use a low temperature and heat it for a longer period of time.
A recent study has confirmed that eggs can be deadly in case you expose them to high temperatures in order to warm them. If you use eggs right away, they are very useful but reheating boiled and fried eggs are very dangerous.
Potatoes are known for the benefits they bring to our health and eating potatoes have proven to be excellent for our well-being. However, in case you prepare them and leave them for 24 or 48 hours and you reheat them, potatoes will lose their nutritional value and all the healing properties. As a matter of fact, they will bring more harm than good to your health.
There is no doubt that the nitrates that beets contain are useful for our body, but not if they are warmed again. Avoid reheating beets in order to preserve your health.
Rice (whatever its color is!)
Again, how you store it before heating can lead to problems. The Food Standards Agency stated that “Uncooked rice can contain spores of bacteria that can cause food poisoning. When the rice is cooked, the spores can survive…however. Then, if the rice is left standing at room temperature, the spores will multiply and may produce poisons that cause vomiting or diarrhea. Reheating the rice won’t get rid of these poisons.”
Grape seed oil, walnut oil, avocado oil, hazelnut oil, and flaxen seed oil all have very low smoke points. That is why, when you reheat them, they become rancid. So, do avoid using them as cooking, baking or frying oils!
Rather, sprinkle or drizzle them over your meals at the end of cooking to enhance the taste of the food.
You can reap the benefits of this green leafy veggies if you eat it raw. Cook it if really must, but never ever reheat butter lettuce, as the high amount of nitrates can easily cause food poisoning!
Celery is a vegetable that is frequently used in soups. Just like spinach, this vegetable is packed with nitrates and as we said before warmed nitrates become nitrites. If you are planning to warm the soup once again after you have prepared it, make sure that the celery is out. Something similar happens with carrots, so remove them too.
Experts claim that it is very dangerous to consume spinach after it was warmed. Spinach must be consumed right after it was prepared. This vegetable is rich in nitrates and these nitrates are turned into nitrites when they are warmed. In other words, warmed spinach becomes carcinogenic.
RECAPPING: When we have leftovers, we like to reheat and consume them for the second and third time, especially if it is our favorite food. However, some foods are safe to consume after reheating, and others are not and can cause damage to our organism. It may be hard to believe that some healthy foods, when reheated, can be a possible danger to us, but these healthy foods lose their nutrients after we warm them up.
Anyway, continuous reheating of your daily meals is toxic and causes bloating when it comes to foods listed in the article. To be on the safe side, avoid reheating them!
